I really would not be too worried about receiving a Google Manual Penalty. Having a different phone number listed on your citations may pose a negative effect on your Local SEO efforts though. I would advise on getting the correct number on as many of these as possible. I’m actually in the process of changing my telephone line, and I’m worried that, with maybe 2-300 directories and resources with my old number on, I’m going to get some sort of penalty.

Thanks for stopping in and sharing your thoughts. We have several clients spread out across the country that are medium size businesses and their main focus is on Local SEO. Like you mentioned, we can target customers a bit more specifically with Geo targeting and the keywords that are relative.

For eCommerce and selling online, it is a bit of a different approach, and we tend to focus more on Content Marketing mixed with Social Media Marketing and SEO ‘White Hat’ custom link building techniques. We also apply this to our Local Business search efforts as well.
